cor - estrutura
For about twenty years, the question of space representation and the constitution of a place has been the structural axis of my artistic production. If at first the space between the sky and the mountain was the main focus of my drawings, engravings, and paintings, over time, this perspective shifted, turning the sky into the protagonist of the scene, with the mountain serving as a solid and robust base to anchor the celestial movements. These representations were almost always constructed from a distance, observing the landscape from a broader relationship with the surroundings, whether it was the city of Rio de Janeiro, the cliffs of the Basque country, or in the middle of Chapada dos Veadeiros.
In recent years, a new perspective has emerged, drawing closer to the ground, focusing on small and minute details, recording each event with lines, stains, and dots. The series Projeto para desenhar o Chão (Project to Draw the Ground) lasted about two years and was completed when I repeated the same walking routes from above, from inside an airplane, relying only on visual memory. Walking and being part of the landscape while moving became the point of interest in these new representations, and choosing the riverbed next was almost an obvious path. During two seasons in Cavalcante, in the interior of Goiás, the Rio das Almas, which crosses the municipality, caught my attention and became the setting for three new series of drawings.
